The controllers allow you to turn the lights on/off and set a timer for 4H/6H/8H, followed by an automatic off for 20H/18H/16H in the 24-hour cycle. Additionally, the lights feature a memory function that starts the lights in the mode they were in when turned off previously.

1. Can a mechanical timer instead of the built-in timer function be used to have the lights turn on at specific times?

Yes, you can use a mechanical timer. I use a light-sensitive power strip with mine.
2. Can two light ropes be joined together?

I'm sorry, it is not recommended to splice them together due to the precise electrical system.Attempting to do so could result in the lights malfunctioning.
3. I need lighting that spans around 200 feet. Can you combine two sets and control them with just one remote?

We do not recommend this, as the remote controller must be directed towards the mini controller on the string lights when used.
4. Are these lights safe to use outdoors?

Yes, they are safe for outdoor use. I used them to decorate my front porch during Christmas without issues. Just ensure the remote has a clear line of sight to the box so that you can control the color patterns inside.
5. Can these lights be used on a pool?

Using magnet hooks, I installed mine under the top rail of my above-ground pool. They illuminate the white stone border surrounding the pool quite nicely.
